Osun Poll: Oyebamiji Tells Christians to Vote Character, Competence Over Sentiment

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has called on Christians to play a more active role in promoting good governance by electing leaders based on character, integrity, and competence rather than sentiment or emotional considerations.


Oyebamiji made the appeal during a church service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Redeem Breakthrough Cathedral, the Region 43 Headquarters in Osogbo. The event was attended by members of the Coalition of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria, where the APC flag bearer also solicited prayers for a peaceful and credible governorship election in the state.


Addressing the congregation, Oyebamiji expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded him and thanked God for His faithfulness to him, his family, Osun State, and Nigeria as a whole.


He urged Christians not to distance themselves from governance but to actively participate in the democratic process by supporting leaders with proven records of integrity, competence, and accountability.


The APC candidate also paid glowing tribute to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, commending his decades of spiritual leadership and describing his ministry as one that has positively impacted lives across Nigeria and beyond.


He equally lauded the Regional Pastor of RCCG Region 43, Mrs. Matthew Oluyinka, for her commitment to strengthening the church's mission and expanding its influence in Osogbo and its environs.


Drawing inspiration from Proverbs 14:34, which states that "Righteousness exalts a nation," Oyebamiji stressed that the Church has a critical role to play in nation-building through fervent prayers, civic responsibility, and support for leaders who demonstrate honesty, accountability, and the capacity to deliver good governance.


He appealed to the congregation to continue praying for peace before, during, and after the August 15 governorship election, expressing optimism that Osun would witness a free, fair, and violence-free electoral process.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
