Police Summon APC Senator Fadahunsi Over ‘Kill Accord Members’ Remark

The Osun State Police Command has summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, for questioning over comments attributed to him in which he allegedly directed supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party.


The invitation follows widespread outrage over a viral video showing Fadahunsi addressing APC supporters during a campaign programme in Ilesa on Tuesday, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.


In the video, the senator, speaking in Yoruba, was heard urging supporters to kill Accord members if they encountered them during the electoral process.


Following the circulation of the video on social media, the police issued a formal invitation to the senator to clarify the circumstances surrounding the remarks.


In a letter dated August 11, 2026, and signed by Samuel Etaifo Erale, Commissioner of Police for Elections in Osun State, Fadahunsi was directed to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Osogbo at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12.


The police said the invitation was based on information alleging that the senator made statements considered “threatening, inciting and intimidating” and which had subsequently circulated across electronic and social media platforms.


Senator Says Comment Was Misinterpreted


Following the backlash, Fadahunsi sought to clarify his remarks, arguing that they had been misunderstood.


A statement issued by his team said the senator was calling on APC supporters to reject the Accord Party overwhelmingly at the ballot box through peaceful and democratic means during the August 15 election.


The statement, titled “Kill Osun Accord with Votes, Not Violence,” maintained that the senator’s comment was political and metaphorical, rather than an instruction to engage in violence.


The controversy comes just days before the Osun governorship election, with political tensions heightened across the state.


Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the Accord platform, has previously accused the APC of using political thugs to attack his supporters—allegations that have added to concerns over the possibility of violence before and during the poll.


The police invitation places the senator’s controversial remarks under official scrutiny as authorities intensify efforts to maintain peace and prevent inflammatory rhetoric ahead of Saturday’s election.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area.
