Police Uncover Ogun Baby Factory, Rescue Pregnant Women, Children

The Ogun State Police Command has dismantled an alleged illegal baby factory in Abaren Village, Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women and four children while arresting six suspects linked to the facility.


The operation was carried out on Monday, August 24, 2026, by operatives of the Mowe Division following sustained intelligence indicating that human trafficking and illegal adoption activities were allegedly taking place at the location.


The police identified the suspects as Florence Ogbona, 58; Magdalene Julius, 63; Chidike Egwuonwu, 40; Onyechu Chidike, 35; Stephen Ogbona, 39; and an attending nurse, Oseni Idaya.


According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, operatives stormed the suspected syndicate's hideout on Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, via Gbarinmole, around 8:00 a.m.


Two pregnant victims were rescued during the raid. They were identified as 23-year-old Ilesanmi Foluke, who was seven months pregnant, and 20-year-old Ejekwa Melody, who was eight months pregnant. Four children—two boys and two girls—were also recovered from the premises.


Further intelligence-led investigations reportedly led the police to a hospital within the Mowe axis, where another victim, 26-year-old Blessing Bright Effiong, had given birth to a baby boy on August 20.


However, police said the newborn's whereabouts could not be established while the mother was receiving medical attention. This prompted the arrest of the attending nurse as investigations intensified to locate the missing baby.


The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation, including determining the full extent of the syndicate's activities, locating the missing newborn and prosecuting those found culpable.


The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, commended the Mowe Division operatives for their swift response and reaffirmed the command's commitment to combating human trafficking, child trading and other forms of criminality across the state.


The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information about suspicious activities to security agencies.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election
