Sanwo-Olu Honours LASU Brilliance, Gifts Best Graduates N20m Each

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has rewarded two outstanding graduating students of Lagos State University with a total of N40 million for their exceptional academic performances.


Sanwo-Olu made the presentation at the 29th and 30th Convocation Ceremonies of Lagos State University, where he celebrated the achievements of the graduating students and commended them for their hard work and dedication.


The governor, who described the event as his final convocation visit to the university in his capacity as governor, presented N20 million each to the overall best graduating students of the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.


The awardees are Ayilara Lawal Olawale of the Department of Project Management, who graduated with a 4.96 CGPA in the 2024/2025 academic session, and Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide of the Department of Aerospace Engineering, who achieved a 4.97 CGPA in the 2025/2026 session.


Sanwo-Olu congratulated the two graduates, describing their academic achievements as evidence of the impact of discipline, focus and perseverance.


“Reaching this height demands relentless focus and both of you have shown exactly what discipline can accomplish,” the governor said.


He reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in the future of young Lagosians, stressing that his support for education and youth development would remain firm until his final day in office.


“Lagos is deeply proud of you, I am proud of you and my commitment to investing in our youth remains firm through my very last day in office,” he added.


The governor also congratulated all graduating students, acknowledging their sacrifices and efforts throughout their academic journey and urging them to remain worthy ambassadors of Lagos State University.


The convocation ceremony brought together university authorities, academics, graduands, parents, friends and other stakeholders to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating classes.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
