Sylva Resigns From APC, Says Tinubu Government Has Disappointed Nigerians

 Former Bayelsa State Governor and immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress, accusing the ruling party of abandoning the principles and ideals upon which it was founded.


Sylva announced his resignation amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, where opposition parties are seeking to challenge the APC’s hold on power.


The former governor reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the direction of the ruling party, arguing that the APC had deviated from the principles that initially attracted Nigerians to it.


Sylva subsequently called on Nigerians to vote out the ruling party at the next general election.


His resignation represents a significant political development, given his previous roles as Bayelsa governor, federal minister and a prominent figure within the APC.


The former minister has been involved in Nigerian politics for several decades and has occupied important positions within the political establishment, particularly in the oil-producing Niger Delta region.


His decision to leave the APC comes at a time when political realignments are gathering momentum ahead of the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.


The development is also expected to generate further discussions about the strength of the ruling party and the growing disagreements among political actors as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.


Sylva’s call for Nigerians to vote against the APC could further strengthen opposition efforts to mobilise voters ahead of the election, particularly as several political figures continue to criticise the direction of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.


The former governor’s resignation adds to the series of political developments expected to shape the alignment of forces ahead of the 2027 elections.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
