Tinubu Announces Rescue of 21 Abducted Nigerians in Kogi

 President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the rescue of 21 Nigerians abducted by criminal elements in Kogi State, including 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).


The President disclosed this in a statement, saying the victims were rescued on Monday afternoon following a coordinated Search and Rescue operation conducted by security agencies.


The rescued victims comprised eight males and 13 females, according to the statement.


Tinubu said the operation involved personnel from the Nigerian military, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS) and local vigilantes.


The victims were rescued from the kidnappers’ hideout in the forests of Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, where they had been held since their abduction last week.


The President said the rescued corps members and other victims were receiving medical attention before being reunited with their families.


While celebrating their freedom, Tinubu disclosed that security forces had continued the pursuit of the kidnappers who fled the area following the operation.


He said he had directed the security agencies to sustain pressure on criminal elements and ensure that those responsible for the abduction were arrested and prosecuted.


“Those responsible will face the full weight of the law, and our security agencies will pursue everyone who aided this crime,” the President said.


Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that Nigerians can travel across the country without fear of abduction or other forms of criminality.


The President commended the combined Search and Rescue team for its courage and dedication in securing the release of the victims.


He also appreciated the families and relatives of the abducted persons for their patience and understanding throughout the ordeal.


“As I share in the relief and joy of the parents and loved ones of the rescued individuals, I want to once again assure parents and loved ones of our dedicated corps members that my administration remains committed to ensuring the safety of their lives and property, as well as those of other Nigerians,” Tinubu said.


The President concluded by commending the country’s security and intelligence personnel for their efforts in combating kidnapping and other criminal activities across the country.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election
