Tinubu Appoints Osun Indigene Abel Enitan as Head of Civil Service

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 27, 2026.

Enitan will succeed Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire from the Federal Civil Service upon attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.

The appointment was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Enitan, an indigene of Osun State, is currently the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education and is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.

He has served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months, with postings to the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.

According to the Presidency, his extensive experience across various government institutions and knowledge of the operations of the Federal Civil Service positioned him for the new responsibility.

President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service, Walson-Jack, for her distinguished service to the country, particularly her contributions to reforms, innovations and institutional improvements within the Civil Service.

The President wished Walson-Jack a fulfilling life after retirement and commended her years of dedicated public service.

Tinubu also charged Enitan to consolidate the reforms and innovations already underway in the Civil Service while strengthening professionalism, efficiency and accountability across government institutions.

He urged the incoming Head of Service to lead a Civil Service that is merit-driven, innovative, responsive and capable of effectively delivering on the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.

Enitan was born on December 12, 1966. He had his secondary education at Ajibode Grammar School, Ibadan, and the College of Arts and Science, Ile-Ife.

He proceeded to the University of Lagos, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Banking in 1988.

In 2015, he obtained a Master of Science degree in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Lafia.

His appointment takes effect on August 27, 2026.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
