Wike Orders Car Dealers to Vacate Parks, Green Areas in Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has directed car dealers operating on parks, gardens and other designated green areas in Abuja to immediately vacate the locations.


Wike issued the directive as part of efforts to restore the Abuja Master Plan and reclaim public spaces that have been converted to unauthorised commercial activities.


The minister ordered relevant authorities in the FCT to enforce the directive and ensure that parks, gardens and green areas are returned to their intended purposes.


The development is part of the FCT Administration’s ongoing efforts to tackle illegal development and activities that encroach on public spaces across the nation’s capital.


Wike has repeatedly warned individuals and businesses against violating the Abuja Master Plan, stressing the need to preserve the city’s parks, green areas and other public facilities.


The latest directive is expected to affect car dealers and other commercial operators who have established businesses on spaces originally designated for recreational and environmental purposes.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
