2027 Reps Race: POYSN Welcomes Igboho’s Backing for Olajengbesi

The Pelumi Olajengbesi Youths and Students Network (POYSN) has welcomed the declaration of support by Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, for Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi’s 2027 House of Representatives ambition.

Igboho made his position known on Sunday when Olajengbesi, the Accord Party candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in Osun State, visited him at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State. 

During the meeting, Igboho recalled Olajengbesi’s role as his lawyer during his legal ordeal following the 2021 raid on his Ibadan residence and his subsequent detention in the Benin Republic.

According to Igboho, Olajengbesi provided legal support during the period without demanding payment and also assisted him when he sought to return to Nigeria for his mother’s burial.

> “When things were very tough during the tenure of the then President Muhammadu Buhari and I was locked up in Benin Republic, you stayed with me and gave me your full support till I was released. You didn’t ask me for money,” Igboho said. 



Igboho also recalled Olajengbesi’s intervention during his return to Nigeria and his assistance in engagements with government officials.

“Pelumi stood by me in a lot of ways,” he added, while declaring his support for the lawyer’s ambition to represent Oriade/Obokun in the House of Representatives.

“I am supporting his ambition for Oriade-Obokun Federal Constituency with everything that I have. You stood by me during my difficult season, and I will rally support for your campaign,” Igboho said. 

POYSN described the endorsement as a public acknowledgement of the relationship between the two men, which the group said predates the 2027 political contest.

The network said Olajengbesi’s involvement in Igboho’s legal matter occurred in his capacity as a lawyer and was not presented at the time as a request for political support.

POYSN further appreciated Igboho for recognising the lawyer’s past contribution and for expressing confidence in his aspiration.

The group said the development had also brought renewed attention to discussions around youth participation, representation and leadership in the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency.

Meanwhile, Olajengbesi said the constituency required “vibrant youth representation” and pledged to pursue programmes focused on development and effective representation if elected in 2027. 

Olajengbesi is seeking the Oriade/Obokun seat on the platform of the Accord Party, with the incumbent lawmaker, Wole Oke of the All Progressives Congress, among those in the political contest for the constituency.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
