2027: Support Accord Candidates or Face Severe Sanctions, Adeleke Warns Members

The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has warned its members and leaders against engaging in anti-party activities ahead of the forthcoming National and State Assembly elections.


The warning followed a closed-door stakeholders’ meeting presided over by Governor Ademola Adeleke, where the party resolved that all members must support candidates officially fielded by Accord in the legislative elections.


According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the party had received reports alleging that some Accord members were backing candidates of other political parties, including the PDP, APM, APP and APC.


The stakeholders warned that any member or leader found sponsoring, supporting or working for candidates of other parties would face disciplinary action.


The meeting also resolved that disagreements arising from the selection of legislative candidates should be addressed internally, urging party members to close ranks and work together for the success of Accord candidates.


The stakeholders further approved the establishment of a committee to investigate constituencies where alleged anti-party activities are reported and recommend appropriate measures, including sanctions against persistent offenders.


The state leadership of the party was also directed to intensify monitoring efforts to identify members involved in anti-party activities and ensure that such cases are addressed promptly.


Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke used the stakeholders’ forum to appreciate Accord members and leaders for what he described as their steadfast support throughout the recent electioneering process.


The governor expressed gratitude to party supporters for their loyalty and courage, while also commending the people of Osun State, the electoral commission and party leaders for their roles in the democratic process.


> “I am deeply grateful to our party members for their depth of loyalty and courageous disposition throughout the democratic struggle. Osun people trusted us and they fought for us under the divine direction of God Almighty,” Adeleke said


He urged party members to support Accord candidates in the forthcoming legislative elections, warning that severe sanctions would be imposed on those who work against the party’s candidates.


“I task us to support our party candidates in the forthcoming legislative elections. We must avoid anti-party activities. Severe sanction awaits any party member who works against the candidates of the party,” the governor said.


Adeleke also charged Accord candidates to adopt an inclusive campaign strategy by reaching out to different groups and factions within the party.


“I have also tasked our candidates to reach out to all segments of the party. We must run an inclusive campaign. All shades of opinion must be mobilised for resounding success in future elections,” he added.


The stakeholders’ meeting ended with a renewed call for unity and discipline among Accord members as the party prepares for the forthcoming legislative contests in the state.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
