FG automates certificate verification, ends physical visits to Education Ministry

The Federal Government has fully automated the evaluation and authentication of academic certificates, ending the need for applicants to visit the Federal Ministry of Education physically.


The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, disclosed this in a statement issued by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, on Tuesday.


According to the minister, the initiative is part of efforts by the government to deepen digital transformation in the education sector and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.


Under the new system, applicants can complete the entire process of academic credential evaluation and authentication online through the ministry’s dedicated platform.


Alausa said the reform would reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, speed up processing, improve transparency and make the service more accessible to Nigerians and applicants outside the country.


He added that the automated system would strengthen the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s academic certification process while allowing institutions, employers and other stakeholders to verify qualifications through a structured and reliable platform.


The minister said the ministry remained committed to deploying technology to modernise education governance, improve institutional efficiency and provide more citizen-centred services.


The ministry advised applicants seeking credential evaluation and authentication to use its official platform, essverify.education.gov.ng, while enquiries can be sent to ess1@education.gov.ng.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
