Oyetola Woos Danish Investors for Nigeria’s Maritime Sector
By Abel Chigozie
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has called on Danish businesses and investors to explore opportunities in Nigeria’s maritime sector, saying the Federal Government is focused on attracting investment, transferring technology and creating quality jobs.
Oyetola made the call in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he engaged the Danish Minister for Business and Competitiveness, Martin Lidegaard, as well as key stakeholders in the Danish maritime industry.
The minister said Nigeria had moved beyond establishing the institutional framework for the marine and blue economy sector and was now concentrating on developing bankable projects, mobilising investment and improving performance.
He identified ports and logistics, shipbuilding, maritime services, digital technology, fisheries, green shipping, renewable energy, marine infrastructure and multimodal connectivity as areas with significant investment potential.
According to him, Nigeria’s extensive coastline, inland waterways, strategic location in West and Central Africa, and large economy provide strong opportunities for long-term commercial returns.
Oyetola urged Danish investors to bring capital, technology, expertise and innovation to Nigeria’s ongoing maritime transformation.
He said the Federal Government’s objective was to move beyond broad commitments and establish practical partnerships and bankable projects capable of delivering measurable economic benefits to both Nigeria and Denmark.
“Our goal is to move from broad commitments to practical partnerships and bankable projects that deliver measurable economic value for both Nigeria and Denmark,” the minister said.
