Re-elect my husband, I want to enjoy Nigeria at old age — Remi Tinubu

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed to voters in the South-East to support the re-election of her husband, President Bola Tinubu, in the 2027 presidential election.

Remi made the appeal on Wednesday in Owerri, Imo State, during a women’s empowerment programme organised as part of her visit to the state.

Speaking to the gathering, the First Lady urged the people to vote for the President, assuring them that the administration would continue working for the development of the country.

She said, “Make una vote for Mr President, we go work for una and Nigeria go better.

“I want to enjoy Nigeria at old age, so I will work for Nigeria, for my old age.”

The First Lady said the empowerment programme was being implemented through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals.

According to her, the initiative is expected to benefit 18,500 women across the country by providing them with equipment to support their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

She said 500 women from each of the five South-East states would benefit from the programme, with items including generators, industrial grinding machines, gas cylinders and ovens distributed to beneficiaries.

Remi disclosed that the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, had provided additional empowerment items for 2,000 women in the state.

She said the intervention would bring the total number of beneficiaries in Imo State to 2,500.

The First Lady urged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the equipment and use the opportunities provided by the programme to expand their businesses and improve their economic wellbeing.
