‘You Removed Subsidy, Yet Can’t Pay ASUU’ — Atiku to Tinubu

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu over the ongoing dispute involving the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.


Atiku questioned the government’s handling of the education sector, arguing that the removal of fuel subsidy had not translated into adequate funding for public universities.


The former vice president made the remarks in a statement on Sunday while reacting to the prolonged disagreement between the government and university lecturers.


He questioned how the government could remove subsidy and increase revenues but still struggle to meet its obligations to university workers.


Atiku also raised concerns about the impact of the dispute on students and the wider education system, stressing the need for adequate investment in education.


He urged the Tinubu administration to prioritise the welfare of lecturers and ensure that public universities receive the necessary funding to function effectively.


The ADC presidential candidate has consistently criticised the administration’s economic policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and its impact on Nigerians.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
