Nigeria Customs, US Firms Deepen Trade Partnership to Ease Bottlenecks and Boost Commerce

Nigeria Customs Service and United States-based companies have moved to strengthen trade relations and enhance cooperation aimed at improving cross-border commerce and reducing operational bottlenecks.

Both sides are seeking ways to make trade processes more efficient, with particular focus on simplifying procedures, improving compliance, and addressing delays that affect the movement of goods through Nigerian ports.

The discussions also centred on boosting transparency and leveraging technology-driven solutions to enhance customs operations and facilitate smoother import and export activities.

Officials involved in the engagement noted that stronger collaboration between Nigeria and international trade partners, particularly the United States, would contribute to improving revenue generation and strengthening economic ties.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to modernise trade systems, improve efficiency at ports, and position Nigeria as a more competitive hub for international commerce.
